From the department of duh
Posted May 15, 2008
As it turns out, a fake theater night whose only function is to skirt the non-smoking law has been declared by a Scott County judge to be ... a fake theater night whose only function is to skirt the non-smoking law. He has halted it.

That's actually the name of one of my cover bands.
They had large Marquees in those days...
For added entertainment, check out the always wacky comment section in the Pioneer Press story. I call you attention to "Mary," one of the pro-smoke crowd who does an over-the-top immitation of someone batting for our team (presummably to make our side look bad).
Some of the others on her side then attack her, thinking she is the real deal!
More proof that there is no real acting involved in "Theater Night."

(presummably to make our side look bad).
That task is so easy, even a chick named Mary can do it.

Touche, and by that, I mean are you even bothering to try to make sense anymore?
Isn't all theater fake?

These bars are trying the patience of a pretty powerful crowd that plays hardball, is well financed used to getting what it wants. All of them would do well to stop it.

I just about wet myself, then I realized he was talking about me...

You're The Establishment, Bob.
Ever think you'd see the day?

To tell you the truth, no. I never pictured myself at 50 with this grey beard, either.

Quote of the Day goes to lawyer Mark Benjamin, who first convinced bar owners this was not only legal, but a way to bring down Freedom To Breathe:
"At first blush, [the decision] isn't good," Benjamin said.

Benjamin has topped himself with this quote from the MPR story:
Benjamin says burning tobacco deserves the same protection as burning the American flag.
