Happy Birthday, Max. Keep on keepin' on.

Gracias. 40.
I can look back on a life of achievement, on challenges met, competitors bested, obstacles overcome. I've accomplished more than most men, and without the use of my legs.
My age-o-meter clicks to 50 today. I'm looking forward to seeing if it really is the new 40.

JACC needs to do a follow-up and go to the reporters home, pound on his door and shout "Hellooooo, is anybody hoooome?". FOX9 loves doing that.

Wow. Somebody commented on a JACC post. Usually they drive people away from MnSpeak.
Max * 40 = More to love, baby!

I'll meet you over there in the 40s in a few months, Max. Save me a seat and order me a beer.

Happy birfday, Max! I'll be over this afternoon to give you your spankings.
Wait, there's cake? Is it white cake? I love white cake.
»» Submitted by Cat_ at 7:16 AM on May 8
I like marble cake. Because I'm a uniter, not a divider.
Happy Birthday Indy & Max! Awesome. In Max's honor, I'll be dressing just like him. Don't let the hat and glasses fool you.
I like marble cake. Because I'm a uniter, not a divider
Coffee came out my nose when I read this. I didn't even think about that. I really do love white cake. Truthfully? All cake is good. Wait, maybe I should be lovin' yellow cake.
Does it really matter? Can we have a cake love-in?

isn't marble cake a choking hazard for kids 6 and under?
»» Submitted by grote at 7:25 AM on May 8
I only like Byerly's white cake because they put some almond extract in it. All others taste like nothing.
FYI for vegans, most cakes at Cub and Rainbow are dairy free...which is why they taste like crap and don't need to be refridgerated.
Exactly, Alie. At least once a week I hit the Lunds in NE for a slab o' cake. It's my guilty pleasure as it's pretty pricey for a piece of damn cake.
I'm kind of a craptastic cake lover. I lost my taste buds somewhere in Seattle when I got a little too "Oh, Yeah? Bring on the heat" at an asian restuarant - I have yet to get them back.

So... There was a news crew because some gas station dropped prices $.30? And there were lines to get gas? Isn't $.30 only about 10%? I recently gained nearly 30% fuel efficiency by simply maxing my tire pressure, slowing down to 60mph max and driving at a less aggressive pace.
Isn't gaining 30% fuel efficiency just about like dropping $.90 per gallon off my fuel price?
Unless you count the surprisingly few more minutes per day in traffic as waiting in line, I didn't really have to do anything at all. More people are slowing down too. Sure, I get flipped off a lot... but I laugh all the way to the bank when people floor it to get around me, only to see them at the next slowdown. They're *choosing* to pay more for gas. I guess it's more fun to complain at the water cooler about high gas prices than it is to slow down a bit.
»» Submitted by bland at 7:34 AM on May 8
Bland, I do the same. On most cars you get the maximum fuel economy on the highway at 55-60 mph. Sucks for people behind you, but as long as you're in the right lane, let em pass ya!
Cat, you should just start making your own cake. That's what I do and you'd be surprised how easy it is once you've done it a few times. Cheaper too.
P.S. Mike Frattalone is HOT.
Way to go, Max! I think all of MNSpeak is turning either 50, 40 or 30 but nothing in between this year.
Bland: There was just a blurb on CNN about more people slowing down. I noticed this last night when I was driving back from Woodbury.
Alie: I know! But the problem with that is then there's a whole damn cake in my house and I'll eat the entire thing. I'm having enough problems trying not to smoke. I figure I just swapped out my addiction.

Cake = Bad
»» Submitted by The Rat at 8:01 AM on May 8
The Rat- That's why you make it yourself. You control the sugar, flour, oil, etc. There are really good substitutions to make cake not as bad for you as well as the frosting. Plus, you can freeze it for later, Cat!
Man, you people are old.
Rat, could you please not rain on the cake parade?
Ha! Alie, I was just having this conversation with a friend - about freezing things. I'm not that strong. The cake would never make it to the freezer. Junk food is band from my house - out of sight, out of mind.
»» Submitted by Cat_ at 8:10 AM on May 8
The Rat has just never liked cake that much. The sugary, decorated ones he never eats. They don't even look appetizing.
»» Submitted by The Rat at 8:12 AM on May 8
I hear ya, Rat. Commercial cakes are vile. Sugar filled cardboard.
band?
banned.
Guess I was still thinking about the cake parade.

Wait, maybe I should be lovin' yellow cake.
But then, the Bush administration will be using you as evidence to launch an ill advised war.

Don't listen to The Rat -- if they ban cake, what will they come after next?
Oh, wait...
JACC had an error in fact in his post (maybe THAT'S why Fox 9 won't talk to him). The station did "drop their prices," they just didn't raise them as quickly as others. That station is one of the few stations in the metro that waits until closing time to change their prices. A lot of people seem to know this, hence the long lines.

P.S. You should see this chick on Divorce Court...OMG, THE HAIR!
Mmmm cake... Happy Birthday Max! I'm a tweener this year. 43 or is it 34? Dyslexia! I think I listened to the Junk Food Band back in college. Kinda of folk rock band if I recall correctly. (and I don't!).
Yellow cake is bland. The Cub marble cake I chose for my @work birthday cake (#29) was tasty. I applaud my wise decision.

Actually, when Anthony Bourdain visited Bob Keller's famous restaurant in California called The French Laundry they served him a piece of cake, I believe, made with crumbled cigarette tobacco.
They knew by that time, he'd been sitting awhile without a cigarette.

mnblrmkr: I think they're already going through my files. The yellow cake has been stored at a supa secret cake hideout.
Alie: OMFG! I can't stop watching it now, that thing is mesmerizing. I just can't get past 1). Anyone thinkin' that's remotely attractive 2). I can't even fathom how one comes up with a creation like that.
I wish I could take a screen shot of it cuz' that shite is something everyone should see.

Cat- agreed, it needs to be shared with the world.
So, Kurtis: If one were to come to your house, what day would one find cake to most likely be served?
I'm asking for a ... er ..., ahem, friend.
