Alas, the camera evaded me again.
I evaded the camera! Actually there are a lot more people that were there than in those photos. I think I avoided Chuck's camera too, although he may have caught audio of me talking about his cat.

I also escaped. Looks like I missed the wildest part of the evening, too, with that yellow rope they brought out later.
feel free to disagree, but the midwest has some of the most attractive people i've ever seen in my entire life.
and it looks like they know how to party.
that's hott.
Was Bud there? The teeming mnspeak masses -- on whose behalf I am the spokesmodel, for this particular issue -- want to know the face of this mnspeak legend...!

I think the party alone housed the most attractive people in the Midwest.

That was the most fun night of my life. I can't believe how many people came...
I don't think Bud was there. Actually, a lot of MNspeakers were absent. DeRusha, where were you?
And Zosia... I didn't even see you! How'd that happen?!?!?!

I have to agree. There are some rather lovely mugs there -- great faces for the camera.

I was waiting for the CCO camera crew to roll up inside and start filming.
I was bummed about it all weekend. We lost our babysitter... and I just didn't have the heart to tell my wife, "See ya! I'm going to Rex's party." It was a very sad, I'm a real adult now, moment.
Glad to see the pictures... it looked like a blast!
my lovely companions and i all agree... it was one of the most kickass parties ever. thanx rexxy!
some sort of night-visiony video will be on Mnstories this week... featuring Rex's "closet interview."

I'm shocked to see that someone found enough space to hold a camera up.
Rex you are the master of all hosts. What a party!
Most dangerous moment (I can't believe it doesn't involve the roof): Long skinny boots flying toward my face as some guy dangled from the rafters landing in piles of broken glass from the table. Ack...No please don't put that rope around you neck!
Most perfectly timed moment: Going to get our coats from Rex's room watching things climax on R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet".....someone asks, "Where's Rex?," as the closet door is flung open to find him and Chuck "trapped in the closet." You guys must have planned that for months.

Yeah, according to the camera, neither TaulPaul or I were there, which is a bold-faced lie! Kind of...........
Great party Rex! Thanks!

funy how according to MNSpeak, nothing is going on in Minneapolis after Rex leaves................???
»» Submitted by dave at 10:28 AM on February 27
Yes, that party was indeed crazy. And crowded. And at times, rather smelly. But I had fun. Never did meet Rex though ...
»» Submitted by Mary at 10:39 AM on February 27
Yes, it smelled. The table of half-day old sushi, an array of improvisational coctails, and all those human bodies somehow combined to form a donut-like aroma.
I was not drinking, which heightened my senses and impaired my abilty to fully appreciate the experience.
It was fun.
»» Submitted by »»» bradles at 11:03 AM on February 27
The sushi should've been less that one-hour old.

The sushi should've been less that one-hour old.
Not by the end.
In refrain, it was a great party!

Yeah I think he was referring to the sushi table at 4am.

I was getting ready to make the move to Seattle.
Coincidence?
I think not.
»» Submitted by bud at 11:40 AM on February 27
I forgot about some of the improvisational cocktails. I've never had a Captain Squirt before that night. Then again, I never thought I'd be talking with Mark Mallman about roller-coasters either. Nor did I think an Irishman would be coaching me on a "more-Yorkshire" english accent.
Oh, and Taylor, sorry I was bitching at you for leaving.
As well, for those of you waiting in line for the bathroom and we joked about going to the alley? Well as I found out, there is no alley.

Thank you, Rex, for throwing a great party. I had a really strange dream last night that you invited us all over to your house and then ingested some sort of poison in front of the crowd and died dramatically, and we were all really upset. It was I think it is my subconscious telling me that you will be missed.
»» Submitted by »»» myandrea at 11:59 AM on February 27
it's funny how I don't recall my photo being taken, but there I am...yet another sign that this party will go down in history as one of the greatest.
Thank you, rex. A fantastic time was had, and I will miss you very much.

I was also among the stealthy ninjas that evaded Matt's camera.
Thanks for throwing such a fun party, Rex.
Ladies, don't think I don't know who was asking for my cousin's number!

Rex, I kept spying you in groups of people, but when I'd turn around, you were gone! It wasn't meant to be, I guess. Thanks for the fantastic party.
Does it say something about my anticocial tendencies lately that I found myself spending almost all of my time at the party watching the trapped in a closet video? Man, R. Kelly is the Wagner of Hip Hop. Awesome.

Chuck and I got to the party at about 12:30, at which point there must have been 300+ people crammed into the place. I couldn't get to the bar and I couldn't get to the beer and I couldn't get to Rex. I finally asked Aaron if DeRusha or David DeYoung were there, and he told me that DeRusha didn't show up and David left. Then I asked him if Robyne Robinson -- who emailed me about dating, btw -- was there. He again said "no". So I said "Screw this party!", grabbed Chuck, and headed towards the door. On the way out, we bumped into the lovely and talented Ms. Lindsey Thomas (who was kind enough to talk to me) and the very blonde Ross Raihala (who wasn't as kind).
Then I went home and played XBox.

All my life-threatening fears of floors collapsing, roofs falling, and mad crowd rushing in the event of a fire managed not to happen. In addition, all my life affirming lets-hit-on-all-these-dreamy-men feelings came out strong. That made for an excellent and interesting evening. Thanks for the fun time!

Here's a key to the pictures: melissa maerz, melissa maerz, and oh- melissa maerz. There were hundreds of people at that party, but judging from the pics, you'd think there were 10.

Yeah, only the beautiful people got their picture taken.
At one point--when Matt was shooting all the people around me--he looked directly into my eyes, smiled nervously, then moved on to a more photogenic partygoer.
I am in the background of one, however.
Always in the background.

I would have liked to get photos of everyone there believe me. But if you noticed how huge my camera is and how drunk I was geting. Not as easy as it may seem. The trick is to get shots of drunk people, without making them look too drunk. At 3am? Besides pretty people make nice photos. And people dancing always make good shots, unless that person is me.

The party must have been good, there were red plastic cups in the street, which I noticed when I stopped by my apartment (just around the corner on Fremont) around 4 AM after my band's gig that night.
Thanks for making parking even more difficult, y'all. Damn sorry I couldn't swing by. :)

i'm workin' on it - having left my prime spot, i need to find some new places to party. plus, they're only really fun when they don't happen so often and you really appreciate it - i think a lot of us there the other night had been off the radar for a while, thus making it double fun to see everyone again.

I have a fantastic idea for a party already in the mix. March 24th, 2006 at the SpotArt we have a great mix of photographers, painters, and scultures. Not to mention kegs of beer, bottles of wine, and Matty Schindler himself playing all night. Its gonna be a party! I'll have Mr. Nikon along as well.
I know what some are probably thinking "art-party" but I'm sayin' this going to an art-PARTY.
Take a look at my pix from the last few at:

The only clue I had was Rex weaving his way back in to the party with fist in the air shouting, "FUCK THE POLICE!"
Good times.
man, i didn't get snapped either, wtf!! and i'm hot! i mean srsly.
i had such a great time, and i saw a lot of ppl i hadn't seen in forever. although my lady had some dude call her a "lolita" at one point, so there was a pretty high skeev factor it seems.
ta rex, i'll miss u.
